MediaTek Launches Dimensity 1200 & 1100 Chips to Challenge Competitors !

Mediatek took the world by storm recently, when it managed to ship more smartphone processors than Qualcomm. It might seem odd, but Mediatek has been continuously improving its chipsets both in budget /mid-range and flagship segments of the smartphone industry.
With the announcement and release of the Snapdragon 888 5G chipset from Qualcomm, it was only a matter of time that Mediatek would also release flagship chipsets for the smartphone market.
Mediatek has released two chipsets which are Dimensity 1200, and Dimensity 1100. These both chipsets are fabricated on a 6nm process, and have 5G support. Both are octa-core processors but Dimensity 1200 can reach 3GHz, unlike Dimensity 1100 which can only reach 2.6GHz. Luckily both chipsets are equipped with Arm Mali-G77 graphics processors. In terms of display both support Full HD+ resolutions, but Dimensity 1200 can display @ 168Hz and Dimensity 1100 supports only 144Hz. Both of these processors support a maximum ram of 16GB and UFS 3.1 storage. In the optics department, Dimensity 1200 has support for 200MP and Dimensity 1100 has support for 108MP maximum. The connectivity support is the same with 5G, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.
Other prominent features include HyperEngine 3.0 and AI capabilities for bokeh and night shots. HDR 10+ playback is also supported.
Redmi and Realme have already confirmed the launch of several smartphones based on these chipsets in the near future. Most probably smartphone manufacturers will release smartphones based on these chipsets in the end of quarter 1 of 2021 or at the start of quarter 2 2021. Other companies like Oppo, Xiaomi, Vivo will also join the party soon enough.
On paper these chipsets seem quite powerful but only time will tell if these chips can match the performance from the likes of Qualcomm and Samsung flagship chipsets. There is a fierce competition going on with the smartphone silicon manufacturers, and with the opportunity to run laptops on these, it further intensifies the situation.
