An Android app has launched recently which has the capability to create a unified inbox for all your unread messages from a number of messaging apps. The apps which can be unified in a single inbox, by this app are listed below:

  1. iMessage
  2. WhatsApp
  3. Facebook Messenger
  4. Hangouts
  5. Android Messages (SMS)
  6. Telegram
  7. Twitter
  8. Slack
  9. Instagram
  10. Skype
  11. IRC
  12. Matrix
  13. Discord
  14. Signal
  15. Beeper network

The name of the app is Beeper, and you must be wondering, how on earth is this app going to unify iMessage on an Android phone. This is literally impossible. Here is how Beeper achieved this feat:

"This was a tough one to figure out! Beeper has two ways of enabling Android, Windows and Linux users to use iMessage: we send each user a Jailbroken iPhone with the Beeper app installed which bridges to iMessage, or if they have a Mac that is always connected to the internet, they can install the Beeper Mac app which acts as a bridge. This is not a joke, it really works!"

Beeper is based on a subscription based model, and it charges $10 per month, to unify all your messaging apps in a single app. It supports Android, Linux and Windows platforms.

This apparently sounds crazy but, it does solve a problem, where users from other platforms can also access iMessage. This seems like a legit solution to technically port iMessage to other platforms, but only time will tell if Apple will allow it to continue for long.

Apple can try two things here, one is that it could try to sue and make life difficult for Beeper, or by making iMessage more secure and stopping it from communicating with Beeper, or on the other hand, it could try, the right thing, and try to bring iMessage to Android. With the turmoil surrounding WhatsApp's new privacy policy in the general public, it seems like the right time to bring iMessage to Android and Windows platforms.
