It is a well known fact that Samsung flagship devices have two variants, one with a Snapdragon Processor and other with in-house Exynos Processor. Samsung’s Exynos has come a long way, and it has improved a lot specially in the CPU area, in the past couple of years.

The detailed comparison between Snapdragon 888 and Exynos 2100 (in Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra), is available on Android Authority. This comparison has revealed that although the CPU tasks are better performed by the Exynos 2100. But it still lacks when it comes to GPU tasks, that is where the Snapdragon 888 shines. The reason behind Exynos winning in CPU tasks is because its cores are clocked higher than the Snapdragon 888 CPU cores, thus technically it means that Exynos is better in CPU tasks but at the cost of battery life.

Samsung’s Exynos processors have been losing GPU benchmark scores, when compared with Snapdragon counterparts, and it seems Samsung is tired of this now. Samsung made a partnership with AMD last year, and it is tipped that the next Samsung flagship processor (presumably Exynos 2200) in the year 2022, could use an AMD GPU.

This could potentially provide Samsung with enough GPU prowness to not only challenge Snapdragon next year, but may also beat it, in GPU benchmark scores. This next generation mobile GPU for Exynos will be co-developed by Samsung and AMD.

At this point it is hard to tell if Samsung and AMD’s collective efforts will bear fruit and Exynos may finally beat Snapdragon, in GPU benchmark scores next year, but this proposition is really interesting and it brings more competition in the industry, which is eventually going to be beneficial for the end consumers.

Samsung is also on its way to bring its processors to laptops like Apple did with MacBooks, this Samsung and AMD partnership could go a long way if the desired results are attained in the year 2022.
