From ig: unitedmasters on gentrification:
“27 years ago Boyz in the Hood hit theaters.
There were so many messages in the film, but this one especially rings true. Gentrification is a real thing, but it's not limited to neighborhoods. It goes for intellectual property too, it applies to the cool you bring to the table as a creative.
Major brands need to stay relevant, and they will pay you half of what you're worth to give them the flavor they need to be trendy.
Don't ever swap ownership for a quick come up, just so they can turn around and sell your cool to the masses for 5x what they paid you.
Get your trademarks and copyrights in order and stay woke. Look at your intellectual property just like you would look at your home.
Don't let anybody gentrify your ideas.“👀

Boyz n the Hood is a 1991 American coming-of-age hood crime drama film written and directed by John Singleton in his feature directorial debut.[3] It stars Cuba Gooding Jr., Ice Cube, Morris Chestnut, and Laurence Fishburne (credited as Larry Fishburne), with Nia Long, Tyra Ferrell, Regina King, and Angela Bassett in supporting roles. Boyz n the Hood follows Tre Styles (Gooding Jr.), who is sent to live with his father Furious Styles (Fishburne) in South Central Los Angeles, surrounded by the neighborhood's booming gang culture, where he reunites with his childhood friends. The film's title is a reference to the 1987 Eazy-E rap song of the same name, written by Ice Cube.
