FGM is still happening in 2021!! As if we are already not dealing with enough in this Covid-19 era, there are young girls in maasai land that have to face this monster once they reach teen-age. This is marked as a preparation for them to usher in their adult life as well as marriage. What saddens me is that their mothers have no say in it and have chosen to watch their daughters get wasted at the expense of "saving their marriage". There are those who are brave enough to save their girls by sending them away to rescue centers BUT they live with the everyday torture of that decision.
