Photo: Courtesy In the heart of Maasailand, lies over 150 expectant girls with the youngest known girl bearing twins. I know, it is shocking! especially because this number is from reported cases only. Had schools not resumed then this unfortunate predicament would not have come to light. The most saddening thing about this issue is that majority of these cases are family and incest related. To add salt to the injury, most of these girls' are forced to keep mum about their abuse by the very same people who should be protecting them. How? You may ask, well by indulging in family dispute settlements where the culprits are fined with a number of goats and the issue swept under the carpet. Doesn't this encourage repeat offenders? What about the stigma on the girl? or even the psychological trauma she goes through? I am heartbroken!! Feel free to give your opinion.
